AIHA’s Primary Care Nursing curriculum and supporting materials are now available in this module for your use, including a comprehensive 386-page training manual you can use and adapt to meet your specific needs. You can access specific sections in the manual by clicking the links below, or read the entire manual by clicking that link below.

The manual is divided into nine different sections. Each section in subdivided into categories that generally begin by stating the objectives, then present the curriculum outline and biography and conclude by offering various evaluation options. Adapting the Manual to Meet Your Needs

After reviewing the materials presented in the training manual, you may find resources that benefit you and others that do not apply to your particular institution or situation. AIHA recommends you chart the following course when developing your own primary healthcare nursing curriculum:

1. Invite a group of experts to review the manual.
2. Ask these experts to make a list of any items they would like to add to the manual, such as new topics or clarifications.
3. Ask these experts to make a list of any items they believe should be deleted from the manual.
4. Convene the group and compare notes. As a group, determine the items that will be added and deleted.
5. For new material that will be added, appoint qualified individuals to write the new sections, add new topics and make clarifications.
6. Select an editor who will be responsible for gathering this new copy and compiling the information into the master document.
7. After the new material has been written, it should be submitted to the editor.
8. The editor is responsible for reviewing the material and making copyediting changes so the content flows in a similar manner.
9. Distribute the working draft to experts and ask them to provide their input.
10. Make edits and changes based on this review.
11. Send out a final copy for approval.
