| The review aimed at comparing current practice in the Tomsk region with available evidence and, if necessary, changing clinical standards to introduce more effective interventions. The reviewers concluded that current methods of Lyme disease treatment in the region comply with the evidence-based recommendations. Recommended antibiotics are – doxycyclin, azithromycin, and phenoxymethylpenicillin. The last two are especially recommended for the use in pediatrics as those drugs have fewer side effects. But the secondary prophylaxis should be changed as there is no evidence of the effectiveness of the combined use of two antibiotics., 5 pp. | |
